HYBRID BREEDING AND PLANTING OF EXOTIC PINE IN QUEENSLAND

经过４０多年的努力，澳大利亚昆士兰州在松树杂交育种方面取得了举世瞩目的成绩。选育的ＰＥＥ×ＰＣＨＦ１具有母本湿地松的树干通直圆满、抗风力强、分枝习性好、耐水渍和父本洪都拉斯加勒比松的速生、皮薄等优点，除适应性广、材质好外，大面积造林比其亲本的商品材积增加３０％。

With over 40 years of work, Queensland has made great achievement in hybrid breeding of exotic pines. During the introduction and plantation process of Pinus elliottii var. elliottii (PEE) and P. caribaea var. hondurensis (PCH), it was found that PEE and PCH had some complementary traits. PEE was more wind firm, straight, and more toterant of poor drainage, while PCH had faster growth and more uniform wood quality. A number of crosses has been made and tested in Queensland, New South Wales and overseas. The test results have shown that F 1 hybrid not only possesses the expected traits, but also clearly superior in growth to both parents on poorly drained sites and to PEE on all sites. This paper presents breeding and plantation history of PEE×PCH F 1 hybrid.
