在资本主义时期的俄罗斯远东,报刊和图书是当时主要的大众传播媒介。报刊和图书出版业在俄罗斯远东的诞生与发展不仅有利于人们增长知识、开阔眼界,而且有利于增进国内外其他地区对远东的了解。19世纪末20世纪初远东报刊出版业的发展速度处于全国领先地位。报刊在远东文化和社会政治生活中起着重要的作用。报刊出版业的发展为远东图书出版业的诞生和发展奠定了物质技术基础。在报刊的印刷基地诞生了图书出版业。20世纪初就出版图书的数量而言,远东的城市不亚于俄罗斯省级城市和其他文化中心城市。远东的出版物内容广泛,而且有不少外文出版物。

In the capitalist period, Russian Far East＇ s newspapers and books were the main mass media. The appearance, and development of the press were not only good for the people to gain knowledge and widen a field of vision, also good for the other areas home and abroad furthered to understand the Far East.The Far East＇s press developed in the lead in the whole Russia at the end of 19th century and the early 20th century. The development of the press laid a technical foundation for publishing houses. The cities in the Far East were not second to the other cities of cultural centers in Russia in terms of the quantity of books in the early 20th century. The Far East ＇ s publications were extensive in content, except not a few of publications in foreign language.
