Art may be a bridge or a barrier in intercultural exchanges. Arthur Miller, Claire Conceison and Elizabeth Wichimann provide us with examples as such when they look at the Chinese theatre from their different cultural backgrounds. They either see the "differences" at the expense of "similarities", or think of "differences" in the face of "similarities", or never think of the question of difference and similarity. It depends on their varying cultural attitudes and value stances.
