Appraisal and Utilization of Soil Resources in Send-Arid Region in Northwest Hebei

“七五”期间根据国家科技攻关项目的需要，对张北实验区土地进行详查，共划出４个土类、７个亚类、８个土属、３６个土种、９０个变种：并查清了土壤肥力状况．通过野外实际观察结合航片判读，明确了土地利用现状．按地貌和土类划分土地评价单元，对土地质量进行较为切合实际的评级，在此基础上确定土地利用方向和改良措施，经过几年的努力实施收到前所未有的实效，实验区面貌大为改观。

We conducted a detail investigation to the land resources in Zhangbei experimental area,found four soil great groups, seven subordinate great groups,eight soil strains,thirty-six soil species,ninety soil varieties,realized the soil fertilities in accordance with the national scientific research need during the seventh five-year plan period. We had a better understanding for the soil conditions by field observation and aero-photo scrutiny.We also apprased the soil quality unit according to topgraphy and soil great groups.Based on these results,we formed the methods how to utilize the soil and upgrade it.The experimental area has seen a tremendous change after several years'efforts.
