The solvated metal atom impregnation (SMAI) technique was used to prepare highly dispersed Ni Ag bimetallic catalysts immobilized on D 72 resin. The catalytic properties of these catalysts in hydrogenation of toluene and diacetone alcohol as well as their electric catalytic properties as a fuel cell electrode were studied. Compared with the conventional impregnation (CI) Ni Ag/D 72 catalysts, the SMAI catalysts showed much greater activity for all the reactions studied. The high activity of SMAI catalysts is attributed to the high dispersity and reducibility of metal (high percentage of metals in zero valent state).
