In order to study the development and stability of the structure of the catalyst, ultrafine particle CuO/ZrO 2 catalyst (aerogel) was prepared by hydrogel ethanolgel process followed by supercritical fluid drying (SCFD) method, then calcinated in flowing air at temperatures up to 923 K. The porous texture was rather stable compared with the data from literature. The crystallite of the catalyst changed greatly with increasing temperature: copper (oxide) from none (highly dispersed) to tenorite CuO and Cu, ZrO 2 from tetragonal to monoclinic. At the same time, some of the morphology properties (such as S BET and V p) decreased, but some of them (such as R p, D a and d ) increased significantly with increasing temperature. For comparison, xerogel catalyst was also prepared. The aerogel type showed better properties and higher stability than that of xerogel type.
