On the one hand, the poet retains the common nature of the commentaries such as references, explicitness of judgments, development and tortuousness of reasoning, and he makes the commentaries poetic by metamorphosing the normal logic on the other. Their particular expressive functions lie it, the fact that the derived expressive effects contrasting to one another are fused into one. More, the commentaries in Du Fu＇ s poems have acquired positive functions for structuring such as embellishing the images and expressions to distillate themes, and acting as an organizer to show both grandeur and strengty.
