Transformation and Continuation: Cultural Consumption and Attitude of Shanghai Root Society towards the West (from 1950s to early 1960s)

有关1949至1979年的上海社会文化研究相对较为冷清。而当研究视野向社会史、文化史拓展,研究重心向社会基层下移,1949年前后的中国历史就不再断裂。作为都市文化的历史叙述,20世纪50和60年代上半期的上海提供了许多1949年以前的文化记忆。从1950年至1966年,在上海大众文化消费领域中可以发现许多时空的交叉或叠合国家与社会的一体化同基层社会的自主性并存;社会文化趋同性的日益显现和差异性的顽强表现。在这种交叉与叠合中,1949年以后的上海大众文化展示着历史的转型与延续,在意识形态主导的社会生活中,大众文化依然色彩斑斓。

There were comparatively less fruits in the researches of Shanghai social culture between 1949 and 1979.From 1950 to 1966, there had been many overlaps in both time and space in cultural consumption—thecoexistence of the integration of nation and society and the autonomy of root society, the gradual appearanceof cultural convergence and persistence of cultural difference. It was in such kind of overlap that Shanghaipopular culture demonstrated its historical transformation and continuation, with various cultures coexistingin their ideology-guided social life.
