The ways of increasing height.of silt-arrester by stages include that with equal storage,equal height and that without restraint. The way of increasing height of silt-arrester by stages with equal storage can save project investment.On the bsais of data from Hongyagou silt-arresters in Hengshan County of Shaanxi Province, the optimum number of increasing height with equal storage is 3 or 4,the corresponding initial storage is the premium storage.Each hightening should conduct at the time when the surplus storage without alluvion equals to designed flood detention storage.
