摘要
围绕当代加拿大女作家阿特伍德的小说《猫眼》,从批判西方形而上学传统中的二元对立观入手,从小说情节和结构安排———儿童游戏、“猫眼”视角、回忆和主人公画作,探讨主人公对二元对立观从初步接受到内化,及至最终超越的漫长曲折的内心之旅。深受后现代思潮影响的阿特伍德认为,只有当人们认识到“差异”的重要性并对它进行重新评价,才有可能走出二元对立这一僵化的思维模式。
The paper, based on the criticism of binary opposition the prevailing thinking rooted in Western metaphysical tradition, explores the long journey to maturity of the heroine in Cat's Eye, a novel by the contemporary Canadian writer Atwood. It traces the process of how she initiates into, internalizes and eventually transcends binary opposition, from the angles of children's games, cat's eye vision, reminiscence and paintings, and points out the vital part played by the re-evaluation of difference in dismantling binary opposition.
