胡林翼是湘军创始人之一,也是晚清理学经世派的领军人物。胡林翼在多年的仕宦生涯中,把理学的天命观与价值观应用于广阔的社会实践,逐步形成了具有浓郁理学色彩的经世思想。因此,要完整地把握胡林翼的思想,必须深入挖掘胡林翼经世实践背后的理学内涵。

Hu Linyi was not only one of the founders of the well-known modem ＂Xiang Army＂ but also an outstanding leader of the traditional Hu-Xiang philosophy, Confucian school of philosophy of the Song Dynasty in later Qing Dynasty. During the years of official career, Hu put the idea of God＇s will and the values of new confucianism into practice. Thus, Hu＇s practical thought which had a rich characteristic of new confucianism was gradually formed. Therefore, we can master Hu＇s practical thought completely only by researching the deep connotation of his new confucianism thought.
