On Mao Lun and Mao Zonggang′s Narrative Theory of Novels

Mao Lun and Mao Zonggang formed original narrative theory in their notes and commentary of The Romance of Three Kingdoms. They proposed the style of ＂facts-based but not fabricated reference and narration＂, thus made clear the distinctive features of historical novels; deeply analyzed the plot structure of the novel; and attached importance to the narrative approach. They summed up the narrative experiences of The Three Kingdoms, promoted the development of the narrative theory of novels. They are of great value to the creation of novels and their critical theories.
