This paper, based on the six-month-long field researches conducted in 2003 and 2005 in a rural community in the suburban area of Lhasa, Tibet, is an analysis of Tibetan peasants' attitude towards medical treatment. Our researches show that the traditional values of Tibetan peasants have a significant impact on their choice of medical treatment. In fact, the way they conceive of medicines is shaped by their traditional cultural and religious preconceptions.
