A Brief Summary of the Study of Contemporary German Philosophy in China

现代德国哲学引入中国经历了多种形态和阶段。王国维理解和介绍叔本华与尼采是为了更好地理解中国的文化和进行独特的哲理思考;而新文化运动乃至“文革”之后的知识界对于尼采和存在主义的颂扬和兴趣则大多是为了反对自己的文化传统。至20世纪90年代,比较的广义现象学的研究开展起来,大批译著、论著出现。至今,又有了一股要通过现代德国哲学来更合适地理解中国古代哲理的学术动向。

The introduction of contemporary German philosophy into China has passed several stages and taken various forms.Wang Guowei studied Schopenhauer and Nietzsche for better understanding Chinese traditional culture and thinking about philosophical issues independently.On the contrary,the New Cultural Movement and the intellectuals after the 'Cultural Revolution' praised Nietzsche and existentialism mainly for opposing their own traditional culture.Since the 1990s,the solid academic studies of phenomenology in a broader sense have been conducted and quite a few qualified translations and research works have been published.Nowadays there has emerged a new academic trend to interpret the Chinese ancient philosophies more accurately through a critical study of contemporary German philosophy.
