作为第一部分全面反映现存清代别集数量版本收藏及作者传记资料的大型工具书,真实地展示了清代别集的数量规模和收藏分布情况,为研究者提供了较准确、可靠的文献资源信息和检索途径。对于这部在有限条件下编纂成的大型工具书,通过指摘部分事实和材料偶有缺漏、疏误而求全责备自然有失公允。这里所列清代几个作家生平资料的辨正也只是其中的几处小误,以便使这部工具书更加准确完善。

General Catologue of Other Cdlections of the Qing Dynasty, as the first big reference book for the overall presentation of the existing editions of the personal collections in the Qing Dynasty and autobiographical materials of the concerning writers, presents a detailed account of the numbers and distribution of other personal collections of the Qing writers as contrasted with the general collection. Therefore it provides scholars with comparatively accurate, reliable sources of reference and access of researches. For this vast reference book compiled under limited conditions, it would be unfair to carry on severe criticism of its occasional lack of certain facts or occurrence of certain mistakes of materials. What is listed here as regarded the life experiences of several writers can only be seen as an attempt to improve the accuracy of the book with the correction of several minor mistakes.
