元剧中的强盗称为“邦老”,从王国维开始,对理据的解释纷歧而未得其确。此词实际采用方言同义词“棒老二”而故作谐音趣难别写,理据是:持棒(行劫)的人。

Robber is called ＂Banglao＂（邦老） in drama of the Yuan Dynasty（元）. There are many different explanations from the very beginning of the scholar Wang Guo-wei（王国维）. This study reveals that ＂Banglao＂（邦老） is the dialect synonym of ＂Banglaoer＂（棒老二）, which is an enigmatic word formation and its meaning is one who robs with sick.
