Allylisothiocyanate–a potential alternative for methyl bromide in soil fumigation

Dazitol and metham were mixed with soil using a stepwise rate series of 50, 25, 12.5, 6.25, and 3.125 mg a.i./kg of soil. After fumigating for 6 days, allylisothiocyanate showed bioactivity similar to that of equivalent a,i, rates of metham （a derivative of allylisothiocyanate） in controlling nematodes, soil microbes, and weeds, thereby indicating its potential as an alternative to methyl bromide.
