The Cun Zhen Tu and the Cun Zhen Huan Tu by Yang Jie of the Northern Song Dynasty are two diagrams having the greatest influence in China. The former deals with the anatomy of the human body; the latter, which made its appearance after the Tong Ren Tu, shows the acupoints along the 12 passages through which vital energy circulates, regulating bodily functions. It is a pity that the two diagrams were lost long ago, and now we hardly have any chance to get a glimpse of their original look. Based on textual research into relevant Chinese books and records as well as such Japanese medical works as Dun Yi Chao and Wan An Fang, especially through comparison with the diagram of the internal organs and the diagram of the acupoints along the 12 passages that have been preserved to this day, the authors discusses the dates of completion of the two diagrams, the figures and books concerned, and their origin and development,as well as their historical contribution in order to give a general idea of what they actually look like.
