Recently, with the deep and systematic researches on the intermediate host of schistosome under the supervision of the dual strategy of WHO, specialists try to explore the mechanisms of heredity, evolution, bio-geographical distribution, reproduction, immunity, metabolism and diagnosis at the level of molecular biology to reveal why snails become the adequate intermediate host of schistosome. The advanced remote sensing technology facilitates controling the prevalence of schistosomiasis, but big dam project brings uncertain impacts for control program. In addition, molluscicides with high efficacy and low toxicity are under investigation while the studies on biomolluscicides and harmless snails deserve more attention. This article reviews recent progress on researches on schistosome's intermediate host.
