COSCO Industry Company (COSCO Shipbuilding Industry Companyis called since April 15, 2005) was officially set up in Dec.1993. It specializesin newbuilding, chemical painting, steel framework engineering, facilitytrading, international project contract and hi-tec industry. NanTong COSCOKHI Ship Engineering Ltd (NACKS), one of the key arms of COSCO Industry,is a joint venture between COSCO and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. NACKSis mainly engaged in building bulk carrier, oil tanker and Post-Panamaxcontainer vessel less than 170,000 tonnage. From the start of the project in1999, NACKS grows vigorously as a modern ship builder in China. NantongCOSCO KHI Ship Engineering Ltd. has built the most sophisticated ships inChina, after constructing a series 5400 TEU container ships in 2001 and a300,000 DWT VLCC in 2002. The productivity level of the company is muchhigher than its counterparts in China and has ascertained the leading positionin Chinese shipbuilding industry.
