In this paper, the study result which is the modeling of machine toolsusing On-line jdentification method is presented. The theory, method andprocess of the On-Line identification for machine tools are stated In theexperimental studies of the machine tool dynamic system, usually the mach-ine tool dynamic characteristics are desdribed as the frequency responseor mechanical impedance, And the excited experimental method is employedfor machine tool research frequently. The experimental conditions areobviously diferent from the practical working conditions of machine tools. Hence we have set-up the on-Line identification system of machinetools by microcomputer control and the On-Line identification experimentshave been fiinished. We have got the transfer natrix of the lathe thoughthe identification It is the fundament of the modeling for machine tools bystate sqace method. The identification of the order and parameters of thesystem are studied seperatly. This on-Line identification theory and proc-edure can be applied to vorious types of machine tools. So it has commonand important values.
