Since decoration is very common in our daily life, the program of decorative design, which is closely connected with other disciplines of the arts, is offered in many institutions of higher learning. The article expounds how to apply ＂addition＂ to decorative design from two aspects of decoration： the notions of design and the guiding principle of creation, hence providing a new dimension of decorative design.
