汉语中与“龙”有关的词语数量多且形式灵活多样，在华夏文化中“龙”形象具有特殊的文化象征涵蕴，龙是祥瑞的象征，是专制皇权的象征，是中华民族的象征，龙文化的发展演变渊远流长。
The word ＂Long＇in Chinese is rich in cultural connotations and its derivatives are numerous and varied in form. For instance, it is a symbol of auspiciousness, the imperial power or the Chinese nation. Thus, ＂Long＂ culture has a long history.
