In Goethe' s Doctor Faust, whether he is blind or not is the key complex, which leads to a bright end for Faust' s pursuit. However, the complex makes the story full of "bitter mystery" confusing readers' interpretations. From the point of myth prototype theory ,the paper explains the symbolic meaning of "blindness" for revealing the true meaning of the play.
