中产阶级不仅是一种财产状况和财产关系,也是一种文化现象,不仅是一个现实问题,也是一种历史现象。离开对中产阶级形成和发展的历史条件的观察,就无法正确认识中产阶级的作用。中产阶级的作用是由其产生和发展的历史环境决定的,对中产阶级类型进行研究,只能从中产阶级产生的历史环境入手。由于各个国家历史环境的巨大差别,中产阶级在各个国家的作用并不完全相同。

Middle class is a cultural phenomenon as well as a financial status and relationship, a historical phenomenon as well as a realistic issue. The role of middle class cannot be understood correctly without the study of historical conditions where middle class formed and developed. The role of middle class is determined by its historical background and, therefore, the study of middle-class type should start with the historical background. Due to huge differences between historical background of various countries, the role of middle class is not exactly the same.
