With the development of the information technology and the universality of Internet, various types of virtual communities has appeared on Internet, which meets people＇s various demands by their different characteristics. On the basis of the introduction to the definition, characteristics and types of virtual communities which exist on Internet at present, this paper compares and analyses characteristics of Alumni, Chat room, BBS and Blog in detail.
