The paper introduces the lightning protection and grounding works together with lightning faults in Guangxi Electric Power Grid during the first half year of 2005; analyzes the main cause of prominent lightning faults on the power transmission lines, and in addition, the main existing problems about lightning protection and grounding in substations; and suggests the corresponding countermeasures.
