Negative Transfer of the Mother Tongue in English Learning

通过对比英汉两种语言在语音、词汇、句法等方面的差异,探析英语学习者面临的学习困难,提出教师在英语教学中应采取以下对策:1)创设可迁移的学习情境;2)给学生以学习方法的指导;3)帮助学生建立合理的、最佳的母语知识结构。

Through the comparison of the phonetic, lexical and grammatical systems of two languages, the author analyses the difficulties faced by the learners and puts forward the teaching strategies which teachers should adopt： 1 ） creating transferable learning situations ; 2）providing studying methods to guide students; 3）helping students construct a reasonable and optimal knowledge structure of the mother tongue.
