牡桂的名称和药材来源的本草考证

The Textual Research of Materia Medica about the Name of Mu-gui and the Source of its Medicinal Substance

本文在全面考察牡桂的本草文献及牡、壮二字的训诂和书法以后,认为“牡桂”当是“壮桂”之误;且牡桂与菌桂,出于一物,前者为干皮,后者为枝皮,二者统称为桂。

The author completely investigated the Materia Medica literatures of Mu-gui (another name of Cinnamon Bark), the gloss and calligraphy of the two words (Mu-gui and Zhuang-gui). He thought it was a mistake that Mu-gui was Zhuang-gui. He also thought that Mu-gui and Jun-gui were from a common source, Mu-gui was the bark of trunk, Jun-gui was the bark of branch, both of them were reffered to as Gui.
