明清之际入华耶稣会士利玛窦与中国士人徐光启等合译西书,借用中国古典词对译西洋术语,其中天主、上帝、几何三词尤为重要,它们树立了意译汉字术语的范式。

In late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, while Matteo Ricei, the Jesuit in China and Chinese scholars XU Guangqi and etc. co-translated westem works, they employed classical Ctfinese words to interpret western terms. The most important ones are Jehovah, God, and Geometry.
