The author's compensative psychology is obviously revealed in the Scholars" Stories of Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio, which can be shown in three aspects. Firstly, his unachieved life goals and desires of the worldly world are compensated in the artistic fairyland. Secondly, by negation of the imperial examination and eulogy of standing aloof from secular affairs, his psychology for balance is satisfied and his depression is relieved. Thirdly, he finds comforts and affirms his own values by the pure loves between beauties and scholars in his stories.
