利用XML构建灵活可扩展的数字图书馆门户

Constructing Flexible and Extensible Digital Library Portal by Using XML

当前数字图书馆门户网站都是专门为某具体的单位设计开发的，当有新需求或者需要构建相似网站时都需要重新设计和编码，不易于系统的扩展和重用。本文针对这个问题，提出基于XML配置文件，构建灵活的可以扩展数字图书馆门户的方法，可以对系统提供的资源、系统使用的元数据标准、系统的功能进行配置和扩展，从而只需要修改配置，不必修改程序就可以形成不同的门户网站。实践证明这是一种比较好的系统设计方法。

Almost all the digital library portals are designed for an individual unit now, such as a university, an academy or a library. When a new requirement comes it needs to be re-designd and coded. It is difficult to extend and reuse the original system. Aiming to solve this problem, this paper proposes a new method to construct a fiexible and extensible digital library portal using XML configuration files. It can configure kinds of resources, metadata and the system＇ s function and so on. The system can create a new portal or be re-configured and extended in the oid one by changing the configuration files instead of changing the code. Experience shows that it is an effective method to construct digital library portals.
