英汉称赞语回应策略差异的优选论解释

Difference in the Compliment Response Strategy in English and Chinese∶An OT Perspective

本文概略回顾了对合作原则、礼貌原则的理论和实证研究以及优选论的理论框架。在此基础上具体考察了陈融(1993)和李悦娥(2000)的实证研究所体现出的汉语称赞语回应策略在近十年中向英语靠拢的倾向。本文试图在优选论的框架下对此进行描述分析,发现语言接触中英语的影响使得汉语称赞语回应策略的制约条件排序发生变化,个别制约条件降级(MODESTY和MANNER),逐渐向英语接近。

This research presents a review of previous studies on the Cooperative Principle and Politeness Principle and a general account of the theoretical skeleton of the Optimality Theory （OT）. On such basis, it attempts to provide an OT account of the tendency of the compliment response strategies in Chinese to approach those in English. Such a tendency is due to the demotion of certain constraints （MODESTY and MANNER in this case） in the EVAL under the influence of English in language contact.
