To develop sugarcane for energy is an effective solution to energy shortage and an important strategy of sustainable development of energy as well. The related research and development of sugarcane for energy at home and abroad and the new highlight of its development are reviewed in this paper, which will provide a scientific basis for further study, development and utilization of sugarcane for energy.
