媚俗,是英国唯美主义代表奥斯卡.王尔德所遭遇的一个美学困境。王尔德的媚俗是由现代审美文化氛围、作家主观上的唯美主义追求以及其自身的庸人气质等多方面因素共同促成的一种审美征候。它深刻地反映了审美现代性在资产阶级现代性的排斥、冲击、同化等合力作用下所遭遇的曲折与变形。
Kitsch is a predicament encountered by Oscar Wilde, the leading figure of British aestheticism. To Oscar Wilde, kitsch is a kind of aesthetic symptom prompted by such factors as the context of modem aesthetic culture, his pursuit of aestheticism and his own bourgeois disposition. Oscar Wilde＇s kitsch typically reflects the distortion of aesthetic modernity which is confronted with the repellence and the assimilation of bourgeois modernity.
