本文通过分析杜十娘怒沉百宝箱这一悲剧故事,阐释李、杜二人爱情悲剧的最根本原因是封建制度、礼教的冷漠无情,以及金钱对人性的践踏。揭示这一悲剧的意义在于:醒人醒世,反映了在明代中后期商品经济繁荣的表象下,虚伪的封建礼教制度、金钱和私欲对人性的践踏。

Through bringing to light the social reason why Du threw a box with Jewelry into a river in anger, this paper concludes that it was the feudal institution, the grim ethical code and the humanity of money-oriented value that led to the tragedy of love between Li and Du. The significance of indicating the tragedy lies in making people advocate humanistic spirit of the true, the good and the beautiful, and giving a faithful representation of the system of sham feudal ethical code, and the humanity of money-oriented value and selfish desire-oriented value behind superficies of flourishing commodity economy during middle and later period of Ming Dynasty.
