The dispute over the standardizing functions of instrumental rationality is a key issue in meta-ethics and moral psychology because it is significantly related to our understanding of the nature and origin of standardization as well as the nature and motive of morality. The author of this paper points out that some Kantists have misunderstood its nature and functions and, as a result, misinterpreted Hume's rationality of practice.
