This thesis intends to investigate the history of the psychological tradition in linguistics from a historical point of view. Because of the close relationship between language and mind, linguistics has forged an indissoluble bond with psychology since ancient time. The psychological tradition has a long history in linguistics and is developing quickly. This thesis presents a detailed study on the origin, development and prosperity of the psychological tradition and analyses related reasons. Finally, conclusions and expectations about the psychological tradition in linguistics are made.
