鲁迅倡导并领潮流左翼文学,闻一多曾反对并嘲笑之。他们的这种龃龉,主要在于二人对待艺术的态度不同。闻一多所取的是诗人的态度主张艺术为艺术,鲁迅所取的是文人的态度主张艺术为人生。闻一多后来所以改变文艺观乃至世界观站在被其过去指为海派者的立场上赞扬鲁迅,这原因在于他们共同具有爱祖国爱人民的思想,尤因闻一多经历了诸多动乱和磨难,光明磊落的高尚人格使他看清了当时国民党政权的腐朽和罪恶。只有在这时,鲁迅才会像太阳一样。

Luxun initiated and guided the Left-wing Literature but Wen Yiduo once opposed and laughed at it. Their disagreement was mainly determined by their different attitudes to art. Wen Yiduo advocated that art should serve art, which was the poet＇ s attitude, and Luxun advocated that art should serve life, which was the literati＇s attitude. But Wen Yiduo changed his literary concept and world view lastly and praised Luxun on the side of Shanghai school writer whom was used to be criticized by him. The reason was that after experiencing many turmoil and crucifixions, Wen Yiduo discerned the depravity and maleficence of the Kuomintang regime by his great personality and beth of Luxun and Wen Yiduo had the good personality of loving their country and their people. Only at that time, Luxun would make Wen Yiduo encircle him like a planet encircling the sun in the solar system along the vested orbit.
