The feminist translation studies' early development lays excessive emphasis on ideology, thus translation io feminist translators is transformed into a sole tool for ideological struggles. It is universally acknowledged that feminist translation studies hold a periphery position in China, since both its introductory translation and relevant local application find less popularity among scholars. Feminist translation studies in its early development tend to be extremely critical to gender metaphoric inherited in translation discourses, with a hope to re - construct women' s specific gender identity by way of manipulating and woman - handling texts. The dominant image reflected in feminist translation theories, however, helps us to be sensitive enough to not only its own problems but also the problems in our introducing efforts, even though it has been changing since its early days. Accordingly, the article aims as a first but not most attempt to re -value feminist translation discourses through a thorough description and analysis of it in a context of current theoretical re - thinking of the western translation studies.
