An Analysis of the Social and Cultural Cause Reflected in the Poetry by LI Yi

李煜词的发生、发展有其深刻的社会文化根源:时代文化与审美习尚的规范,使他的词追求轻艳,重于内心情感的细腻表达;南唐的地缘因素和社会风俗的影响,使他的词柔靡而艳丽,重于描写歌舞宴饮的享受和对恋情的追求,具有明显的俗文化特征;南唐特殊的历史和词人的人生经历使他的词充满深哀巨痛,抒发自我的家国之忧,摅写了经济之怀,提升了词的文化品格,初步显露了词向诗化道路回归的端倪。

The poetry by Li Yi （Emperor of Nantang dynasty which only controlled a small part of ancient China at that time） reflected deep social and cultural roots. The geo - political factor of Nantang Dynasty and the change of social customs made his poetry decadent and magnificent, laying emphasis on describing enjoyment of singing - dancing and drinking - banquet, and pursuit of romantic love, whieh had obvious characteristics of the popular culture. The special history of weak Nantang and the experiences of the poet＇s in that situation made his poetry full of deep sorrow and great pains, expressing his own worries about his dynasty, his family and the declining economy of the dynasty, which have lifted the style of his poetry upon a higher thinking level.
