The works by Zhang Chengzhi are startlingly alternative to other religious stories in the 20^th century in China. Although in religious form and style, his writings focus mainly on social criticism. Therefore, there is the aura of the heretic in his novels, rebelling against the social system. In the epoch of the historical turn and reform in China, via the Islam heretic al-Jahariyah, Zhang Chengzhi has found the way to describe the fate and state of existence of Muslins in China within the context of the globalization and against the background of the world capitalist system.
