Brief Consolidation and Limited Control before the Upsurge of Cooperative Transformation of Agriculture

1955年7月至11月,毛泽东在严厉批判“小脚女人”思想,主张农业合作化运动大发展的同时,也反复提出注意质量和进行整顿的思想。1955年10月中共七届六中全会扩大会议召开后,根据毛泽东强调注意质量和进行整顿的最新指示,一些省份曾经进行过短暂的整顿和有限的控制。这是农业合作化运动高潮前鲜为人知的插曲。

During the period from July to November 1955, while severely criticizing those who acted too cautiously “like a woman with bound feet”in the cooperative transformation of agriculture and trumpeting for vigorous development of the campaign, Mao Zedong repeatedly emphasized that attention must be attached to the quality of the cooperatives and those already in existence should be consolidated. Following the Enlarged Sixth Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the CPC in October 1955, some provinces checked up on and strengthened the cooperatives already set up for a short period of time and exerted limited control over the development, an episode before the upsurge of cooperative transformation of agriculture little known to the outside world.
