Vladimir Nabokov is a world-famous literary giant, whose best known novel, Lolita, aroused great controversy for depicting the abnormal love between a 37-year-old man and his 12-year-old adopted daughter. This novel makes light of the conventionally endorsed social value and moral standard. It has invented a world of love greatly detached from reality and presented a moving love story that doesn't seem to have anything to do with morality. This paper tries to explore the origin of the tragic lot of the hero and heroine through a general analysis of their experience and their psyche.
