In the teaching appraisal of ordinary university and college, the lack of specific standards of school feature results in the appraisal specialists＇ opaque rating and the rated schools＇ indistinct construction. As a result, it hinders the establishment of school features. On the basis of the analysis of the contents of the characteristic items, the essay puts forward some suggestions on how to grasp and appraise the essence of the characteristic items for reference.
