Twenty Large White×Landrace×Beijing Black male piglets weaned at 28 days were randomly divided into 4 groups with 5 piglets each, and were individually housed in plastic-coated metabolism crates under different temperature (28℃ ,15℃ ). The piglets were fed a basal diet containing 20% crude protein supplemented with apramycin at 0, 90, and 150 mg/kg for a period of 2 weeks. During the last week, metabolic trial was conducted to study the effect of apramycin on the apparent metabolizablity of dry matter and protein and the nitrogen retention of piglets. The results are as follows: Under low temperature condition, dietary apramyein supplementation could effectively alleviate cold stress. The treatments of 90 and 150 mg/kg improved the apparent protein metabolizablity by 26.4%, 18.7% and daily nitrogen retention by 31.7%, 38.4% respectively. Addition of 150mg/kg apramycin significantly increased ADG by 70.5%(P〈0.05) and FCR by 32.7%(P〈 0.05 ), and markedly decreased the mortality of piglets. Therefore, apramyein dosage should be increased under low temperature environment.
