Bian Lian Bao and His Poetic Sketches Crooned in Sui Yuan & Du Fu's Syllabics ABC

清代著名诗人、学者边连宝,时人将其与袁枚合称“南北两随园”。其思想直承先秦儒学,于困窘中坚守“固穷”意识,性格倔傲。所作诗篇宗法杜甫而兼得韩、孟。所著《杜律启蒙》,专事注解杜诗五律、七律,以诗人眼光审视杜诗,注重解析章法结构,阐释炼字、炼句等艺术技巧,于诸多杜诗注本中别具一格。

Bian Lian Bao is a famous poet and scholar in the Qing Dynasty. He and Yuan Mei were acclaimed as ＂Two Sui Yuan＇s Masters, one in north while the other in south＂ by the people at that times. His thoughts directly inherited the Confucianism in Pre-Qin Dynasty, so he could stick to the view that poverty was the true color of a gentleman in a difficult position. He was stubborn and haughty. His poems＇ creation not only followed the example of Du Fu, but also Han Yu and Meng Jiao as well. He specially noted the Du Fu＇s Syllabics in his Du Fu＇s Syllabics ABC. The work has a unique style about examining the Du Fu＇s poetry in a poet＇s eye, laying stress on analyzing poem＇s organization, and interpreting the artistry such as refining words, sentences and so on, among many annotation editions of Du Fu＇s poetry.
