The Ordos city in Inner Mongolia has lured many investors in development of its rich coal and natural gas resources. Large energy and chemical projects are planned with new contracts inked one after another. In 2005 a total of 25 projects of heavy chemical industry valued over 100 million RMB apiece were under construction or planned and Ordos was ranked as the number one among other cities. The construction of 6 new projects was commenced in the first half of 2005, including the 400 kt/a PVC unit at Yili Chemical Company, the 500 kt/a DME unit at Shandon Jiutai-Inner Mongolia Co., the 200 kt/a methanol （phase I） unit at Inner Mongolia Sanwei Resources Group, the 200 kt/a LNG unit at Xinxin Energy Co.,
