On Wang Sen

王森是明后期著名的民间宗教家之一。由他开创的东大乘教,无论是在教义思想,还是在组织、领导农民起义诸方面,都在历史上留下了深深的印记。特别是东大乘教对封建专制制度的叛逆思想与行为活动,对当时与后世的民间宗教产生了巨大而深远的影响。

Wang Sen is one of the notable folk religious masters in the later Ming Dynasty. He founded the East Mahayana, which has left deep impression in history, no matter whether it is in organization or in leadership of the peasant uprising. What is more, the East Mahayanag view and activities against the feudalist autarchy produced huge and profound influence on the folk religion at that time and the following centuries.
