高等教育的和谐既是社会发展的需要,又是教育自身发展的需要。我国高等教育在走向大众化的过程中,出现了一些矛盾和问题,引起了广泛的关注。为了促进高等教育的和谐发展,必须处理好高等教育的工具性、实用性与目的性、人文性,政府责任与个人义务,跨越式发展与其支撑体系,体制内增长与体制外增长等方面的关系。

Both the society＇s development and the higher education＇s own development need the higher education＇s harmony. In the popularization process of China＇s higher education, some questions and contradictions are revealed, which have aroused much attention. In order to promote the harmonious development of the higher education, several pairs of the relations must be well handled, such as the tool, practicability and purpose, humanity of the higher education, the government responsibility and the personal obligation, the great-leapforward development of the higher education and the support system, the increase in the traditional system and the increase outside the traditional system.
